Why I
Started This
Vapor Archive began with a simple frustration: the fragrances I loved cost more than they should, and the alternatives were sold without any care at all.
I have always noticed people by their scent before anything else. A relative who wore the same fragrance for twenty years, so that the smell of it is now inseparable from her. A room you walk into and know who has been there. Fragrance is the only thing I know of that stores a memory and gives it back whole.
What I could not accept was the price of it. The fragrances I loved cost more in Lagos than they do anywhere else, because of import duty, the exchange rate, and every hand a bottle passes through on the way here. A single bottle became a decision you thought about for weeks.
The alternatives were not good enough
There were cheaper options. Most of them were sold out of a plastic bag with a handwritten label, by someone who could not tell you what was in the bottle or how long it would last. The oil was often good. Everything around it said the opposite.
The oil was never the problem. The problem was that nobody treated it as though it mattered.
That gap is the whole reason Vapor Archive exists. Premium fragrance oils, sourced properly, described honestly, and presented with the care the fragrance itself deserves. Not a cheaper version of luxury. A different route to it.
How we work
We opened with eighteen fragrances rather than two hundred. Each one was chosen by asking a single question: does this deserve to be in the archive. We have worn all of them, in Lagos heat and in harmattan, and the longevity and sillage figures on every page come from wearers here rather than from a supplier's sheet.
Every bottle is filled to order, sealed, inspected and sent with a card. Nothing is pre-bottled and left to sit. If a fragrance is out, the page says so instead of taking your money and explaining later.
What I want this to become
A fragrance house from Lagos that people trust on the strength of what is in the bottle. Signature blends of our own. Home fragrance, body oils, gift sets. But none of that before the first eighteen are something I would send to anyone I know.
If you are ordering for the first time, start with a 1ml tester and wear it for a full day before you commit. And if you are not sure what suits you, message us. That conversation is the part of this I enjoy most.
